In the theme of either you do it right or you don’t do it at all, I made up for my absence from my yoga mat this week by doing two classes in timespan of of 12 hours. Last night I went to a wonderful vinyasa class, which was extra special because we practised in the beautiful yard of our yoga studio for the first time. I’d recommend everyone to do a yoga practise outside when it’s nice out, you will learn many different things about yourself and your focus.
This morning I attended the mysore ashtangha class at 6.30.
I will repeat that in case you don’t grasp the earliness of the concept: 6.30 a.m.
I’m always pleasantly surprised when I take this class cause I leave it with so much energy and the feeling like I’m on top of the world, and it’s not even 8 yet!
Breakfast get designed in the theme of take away breakfasts.
Overnight oats in an almost empty yoghurt container:
These oats got inspired by Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.
I love Ben & Jerry’s! I’m not normally an ice cream fan but I like Ben & Jerry’s from time to time because it’s so much more than just ice cream.
All the flavours, add ins and different textures… it amazes me every single time.
In the container went 8 T of oatmeal, 2 T of grated coconut, splashes of soy milk, flax seeds, strawberries and smoked almonds. Store in fridge overnight and topped with some melted peanut butter in the morning.
And an iced coffee on the side:
Yep, I am the creep that stores the container and some spare ice cubes of an iced latte from a café in her tiny freezer in order to be able to use the container again. In my defence , it’s the only way I can make sure I have ice cubes at hand and I will throw the container away after I finish this drink.
Whether they’re green or not, I’ve been on a real smoothie kick lately.
Smoothies are great brain food. They are light so they won’t leave you feeling all sleepy and they are packed with all sorts of goodies to keep you in top shape.
Some new things I’ve tried these last couple of weeks:
- All fruit smoothies: think lost of kiwis, grapes and lychees
- New types of greens to add into the smoothies: I’ve been hooked on lamb’s lettuce smoothies these last months but I also found back my first love: spinach. And a new green to end this list: zucchini!
- Toppings: I’ve always enjoyed nuts and seeds (think flax, almonds, sunflower seeds) but you have to promise me to try rice krispies in your smoothies, or as a topping on anything really cause rice krispies are amazing!
Maybe you haven’t noticed yet but I have a thing for rice krispies lately.
Bet you couldn’t tell it by the view of this bowl though, cause this is a moderate topping portion, obviously 😉
I also gave juicing a try this week, I started with spinach with a couple of grapes to give it a sweet extra, but this didn’t really convince me. Maybe I should add some kiwi next time?
Juice experiments: not bad, not great either…
Smoothie art: yoghurt swirl
But you don’t have to worry, my mum baked a chocolate cake so I’m balancing out all those fruits and veggies which just the right amount of cocoa!!
Focusing on yoga and meditation this week really has done miracles for my energy levels, my mood and my attitude.
This morning, I woke up feeling really energised and focused even though I only had 5 hours of sleep.
My body doesn’t do sleeping in, not even when it’s been partying till 3 and danced all night long and had a couple of drinks: 7 am it is, thank you very much bio rhythm.
I tried to force myself to sleep some more, but after dozing another hour or so I just had to wake up and get things going.
Fluffy and overflowing oats, and you can take that last part quite literally 😉
Good thing I was just in time to prevent it from spilling all over the microwave
The best breakfast I’ve had in ages: fluffy oats with blueberries, cinnamon and honey, topped with some granola and some soy milk. Such a great way to start your day.
After breakfast I decided to go for a coffee, to compensate for the missed hours of sleep. Once in the coffee shop I went with the Ginger Tea instead of coffee.
If been wanting to try this for ages, but I’m always having a hard time in coffee places, so much delicious options!
There was actually real ginger in there, no strange flavours supplements or stuff. I loved the contrast of the ginger and the honey, definitely will get this again.
Now for an unrelated question: I’ve noticed that I’ve almost passed my upload limit on wordpress (woooops) now I was wondering: If I delete files in my media library will they still be visible in the posts that are already published, or will they disappear there as well?? Any suggestions??

I’m one of those people who get ‘kind of’ weary when they don’t get enough sleep at night. And by weary I mean: confused, bumping into things, forgetting stuff and dazed.
Sound like fun right?!
People who read the previous post might know I’ve been out about 3 times last week, and 3 times of less sleep than I’m used to really make me one weary (and scary?) person: I’ve been putting things in the fridge that should be in the oven and visa versa (no way on earth that oatmeal in the fridge is ever going to get warm my friends! ), I have a huge bruise cause I bumped me knee trice at the same place, at the same object in a 5minute time span, not to mention all the almost tripping (and all the actual tripping) over stuff…
to be short: it wasn’t pretty 😉
So I was a good girl last night, had my obligatory 9hours of sleep and when I woke up this morning I felt more human immediately.
And I made a gorgeous breakfast to get an extra energy boost (some more energy couldn’t do any harm, right?)
‘Coffee Cocoa Oats’
Lo and behold: the ultimate morning pick me up
All you have to do is cook half a cup of oats in one cup of your liquid of choice (soy milk for me, obviously). Add half a sliced banana, 2 teaspoons of instant coffee and 1 or 2 teaspoons of cacao powder or a chunk of extra dark chocolate. Put this in the microwave, or let it simmer on the stove top, whichever flows your boat and/or your time schedule.
Top things off with some walnuts and chocolate shavings.
If I felt more human after my good night sleep, I absolutely felt revived after this breakfast. I feel like I will get a lot of stuff done this morning, all that energy racing through my veins!
Wouldn’t it be nice if all energy-boosts came in the form of a damping bowl of oatmeal?!
Enjoy your weekend!
